HISTORY:
AUG 1990 250D and 260E long wheel base 8-seater Saloons launched. OCT 1992 200E 16v (136 bhp), 220E (150 bhp), 280E (197 bhp) and 320E (220 bhp) Saloons and Estates launched in UK. AUG 1993 Range rebadged E-CLASS: previous 200E and 200TE become E200 Saloon and Estate; previous 300D and 300TD become E300 Diesel Saloon and Estate, etc. JUL 1994 AMG E36 Saloon and Estate (272 bhp) launched in very limited numbers. OCT 1994 E200 Saloon now has standard rear head restraints.
COMMENTS:
The worlds favourite taxi, roomier and more refined than the C-class: Estates are particularly sought after. It is a tribute to the excellence of its engineering that were no major changes throughout its life.
